Polka Dotted Gift Wrap Paper with Zoya Wednesday

'Tis the weekend to wrap presents! Today's Christmas mani is a cute polka dotted pattern, reminding me of gift wrap at this time of the year. I can never say no to a good blue and so was the case with Zoya Wednesday, a dusty, darker version of Tiffany blue. It reminds me of Essie Turquoise & Caicos but without the horrible formula and stressful application. It did give me a bit of lobster hands but it's not as severe as it seems to be in the pictures.

Here is the polka dotted gift wrapping for my Secret Santa at work:

Though it's not the most Christmassy mani, I'm happy I got a lot of compliments on it, including one from an 80 year old man who couldn't understand how my nails had a pattern. See you next time with some more nail art!

Snowflakes with Zoya Song

Less than a week left till Christmas! I am trying to cram in as many Xmas themed nails as I can before then. Today's mani is different from the usual greens and reds but still very wintry. I found Zoya's at Winners last week and picked up Zoya Song, a long time lemming. Song is a dark blue creme with understated sparkly blue shimmer. Believe it or not, I used just one coat for my swatches and removing it didn't leave my fingers looking like blue zombie hands. I topped it with a coat of Seche Vite, drew some snowflakes with a Sally Hansen nail art pen in White, and added another coat of Seche Vite. Thankfully, the Seche Vite didn't shrink the Zoya this time!

Despite the weather prediction, I hope we have a white Christmas instead of this wet mushy weather. Until then, I'll have to make do with the snowflakes on my nails. See you next time!

Christmas Lights with Essie Beyond Cozy

Last weekend, my family and I (puppy included) drove around the neighbourhood with peppermint hot chocolate to see all the Christmas lights. So, naturally, today I have a string of Christmas Lights on my nails The base is Beyond Cozy from Essie's Winter 2013 collection, a fine gold glitter with slightly larger pieces of silver glitter. For the bulbs, I used Zoya Andi, Essie Butler Please, and OPI Jade Is The New Black

Here is a swatch of Beyond Cozy by itself. I topped the glitter off with two coats of Seche Vite to make the surface completely smooth and non-gritty. Such a gorgeous glitter!

I hope you're enjoying the Christmas nails this month. As always, thanks for reading!

Christmas Mani: Poinsettias!

Hello folks! Hope everyone's enjoying their weekends and getting some Christmas shopping done! Continuing with the Christmas nails theme for December, today I have a manicure that I did using a poinsettias stamp from LeaLac's Plate B. For the base I used Wet'n'Wild French White, stamped over with Rimmel Red Rock and finished with Sally Hansen Xtremewear Emerald City. I took a few pictures with the tree to make it more festive :)

I had a lot of fun doing this mani! In hindsight, I should have used a darker red so it wouldn't look so pink over white. I'll be posting a lot more nail art this month as opposed to just posting swatches. Check back soon and thanks for reading!!

Lush Lacquer Holiday Collection 2012: Frosty

December's here already?! You know what that means...Christmas nail polishes! This year, I'm more excited about indie holiday collections than main stream brands, probably because indies use a lot more glitter ;) Today I have for you Frosty from Lush Lacquer's Holiday 2012 Collection. Lush Lacquer is an indie brand created by a mother-daughter duo, and available in their Etsy shop as well as on Llarowe.

Lush Lacquer - Frosty

Frosty is a white creme base with red and green hex, square and bar glitter. There is so much glitter in this polish that I didn't have to worry about placing any pieces. I used one thick coat on some nails and 2 coats on others to show you that either technique results in full coverage. I didn't experience any dragging/balding but I did have to wait a little longer for the thick coats to dry. Overall, I'm very happy I finally gave this brand a shot and I'm going to keep my eye on Llarowe for the next restock :)
