Ruffian Mani: Butter London Royal Navy

Today's post is all about firsts! My first Butter London and my first ruffian manicure. I have resisted Butter London for years now (no reason!) but finally caved last week, when I bought Royal Navy and Two Fingered Salute. Royal Navy is a dark navy blue creme, and it is highly pigmented which means you could get away with 1 thick coat, or 2 thin coats like I did. Being blue and pigmented also means that once it touches your cuticle/skin, it's almost impossible to clean it up without tinting your skin blue. I turned this into a ruffian mani with a silver Sally Hansen nail art pen.

I am in love with ruffian manicures but I found this surprisingly hard to do! The borders have to be so smooth and clean, and it took me 5 minutes just to do one nail. I'm sure with practice, it gets easier and better. Here is a picture of Royal Navy by itself:

What do you guys think of the ruffian mani? Have you tried it yet?

  2. Yes! I just did one with a rose gold and For Audrey.... The colors look nice but it made my nails look stumpy! Your lines look really good! I love navy and silver together.. classic!

    1. Ooooh that sounds like a good colour combination! I can see how this pattern can make nails seem shorter though.
