OPI Skyfall Collection 2012 Swatches and Review

Hello there! Today I have for you five of the twelve polishes from the OPI Skyfall Collection for Holiday 2012. I can’t wait for the movie to come out! OPI does great holiday collections and the new Bond collection is everything I expected and more. Let's get right onto it, shall we?

OPI Skyfall 2012

Goldeneye is a warm gold foil with very small foil particles. This polish needs a considerable amount of coats for full coverage; for swatches, I used 4 coats. This is the kind of polish that looks better in indirect sunlight/shade than it does in sunlight/direct sunlight.

Live And Let Die is a super dark green creme with olive gold shimmer. The formula was smooth and buttery, and pigmented enough for you to get away with just one thick coat or two thin coats. Because the green is so dark, it does look almost black in the shade. I used two coats for the swatches.

Skyfall is a classic rich burgandy creme, perfect for the months ahead. The simplicity of this polish was what appealed to me, and it has that luxurious feel to it when on the nails. The formula was creamy and pigmented, but does have a tendency to stain the cuticles.

The Spy Who Loved Me  is a tomato red polish packed with micro-fine gold shimmer. This polish is just wow! It looks so ordinary in the bottle but when on the nails, it is so beautiful and deep. The shimmer seems to be floating right beneath the surface. I used 3 thin coats for opacity as it is slightly on the sheer side. The only downside is that this is very prone to staining the skin around the nail too.

The Living Daylights is a glitter top coat with turquoise, copper and silver medium-sized glitter. The formula was better than expected, and the glitter was easy to spread without any dabbing. I used one coat of The Living Daylights in the following swatches.

Overall, I am very impressed with the formula of these polishes. They were all consistently great instead of being a hit-and-miss collection. There are seven other polishes in this collection that I did not buy but have the urge of going back and getting! What are your picks from this collection?

  1. Goldeneye would be my pick. You don't see many warm golds and would be great for layering too! Awesome swatches! It must take a lot of work to swatch a whole collection at one time!
