Nicole By OPI Spam: Swatches and Reviews

Today's post is a review of six of my favourite Nicole By OPI polishes (or more commonly known as NOPI). Nicole by OPI polishes are available at Shoppers Drug Mart for $10.99 and at Walmart for a little cheaper. Let's go straight into the swatches.

Gone Wishin' is a clear base with micro fine purple and blue glitter that shines like crazy in the sunlight. It would be hard to build opacity by itself so I layered it over 1 coat of A-England Elaine, although any purple would work. The formula was decent, needing 3 coats for complete coverage. I love that this glitter doesn't eat top coat like more of my other glitters. I finished it with 1 thick coat of Out The Door:

Khloe Had A Little Lam-Lam is a very dark teal creme. It is part of the Kardashian Kolors line by NOPI. Formula was smooth and flawless, opaque in one coat. I used 2 coats for swatches, topped with 1 coat of Out The Door:

Studio Mama is a light pink creme that borders dangerously on being off-white. It is part of the 'One Less Lonely Girl' collection by Justin Bieber and NOPI. It didn't make sense to me why Justin Bieber would have a nail polish collection, but I was told it was to bring awareness to the Pencils of Promise organization that focuses on educating children through building schools in under-developed areas. Smart kid! Studio Mama is one of my go to nudes and I am half-way through the bottle. The formula is fussy and streaky, which is why I alternated between 1 coat polish and 1 coat seche vite (3 coats of each in total). In reality, it is slightly pinker than the swatch below:

One Less Lonely Glitter is a clear base with small and medium sized purple glitter. It is also part of the 'One Less Lonely Girl' collection by Justin Bieber and NOPI. The formula is that of a regular glitter top coat. This definitely needs underwear as it looks pretty scarce without one. I used 3 coats of this polish over OPI Studio Mama and topped it with 1 thick coat of Seche Vite:

Sealed With A Kris is a dark red jelly, also part of the Kardashian Kolors line by NOPI. The formula is great, needing 3 coats for opacity and fast dry time. It also works wonderfully for jelly sandwiches. It is a touch darker than it looks in the swatch below. I topped the 3 coats with 1 coat of Seche Vite:

You're A Star is a pearly, foily white with scarce holo glitter. This was the biggest surprise out of all my NOPI's. It looks pretty enough to be worn by itself, without any of the harshness of a white nail polish. The formula is very sheer, needing 4 coats for opacity. Because of the number of coats, dry time is a little longer than usual. I topped it off with 1 coat of Out The Door:

  1. Do you know why it is called "Nicole"? I always wanted to know! and how is it different from OPI?

    The purple is stunning!

1 more question! Why do you alternate between color/top coat?

    : )

    1. Nicole is apparently OPI's creator's daughter! (Wikipedia lol)

The alternating is because if I use another polish coat on top of my first coat, it makes the bottom coat wet and drags it with the brush, leaving a 'bald spot' near the cuticle. The top coat in between just evens it out so you need less coats for a streaky polish and gets rid of the 'dragging' problem. :) :)
